Metanoia
After nearly twenty years away, psychology doctoral student Mitch Broussard returns to her hometown of Moitié—drawn back not by nostalgia, but by the death of the father she spent most of her life trying to forget. The visit stirs more than grief: old memories, blurred timelines, and a strange invitation to complete her dissertation using her late mother’s unfinished research. Mitch isn’t sure she’s ready to revisit the past—especially the parts she's spent years rewriting to survive. But Moitié has its own way of uncovering what’s been buried.
When Cedric Abélard, a former detective grappling with his own complicated past, volunteers for her hypnotherapy study, Mitch sees him as a subject. Nothing more. But their sessions stir something deeper—shared memories, overlapping traumas, and a connection neither expected.
As they begin to piece together the fragments of their histories, both are drawn into a legacy of silence, grief, and hidden truths. And at the center of it all is Dr. Augustus Fox—mentor, gatekeeper, and perhaps the one person who knows what really happened all those years ago.
Set between two timelines and layered with suspense, this is a story about memory, inherited trauma, and the unsettling ways our past can find us—no matter how far we run.
